YOU MAY HEAR ME RECITE MY POETRY ON YOUTUBE UNDER MY PEN NAME ICHTHYSCHIRO
This page illustrates the versatility of the American cinquain as an 'easy to understand and fun to write' poetic form especially suitable for introducing an indigenous short poetic form, developed and created from within, the English language literary culture.

The cinquains on this page may be copied freely by individuals for personal use, research, and teaching (including distribution to classes) as long as a statement of attribution to the poet and this site address of two4six8two is included.
The copyright of these American cinquains belongs to each of the individual poets named , and any requests to use the poems for a commercial purpose should be addressed in the first instance to mailto:strandbg@aol

A COUPLE OF EXAMPLES FROM KAREN......

DAUGHTER'S DELIGHT

Megan---
chatter, chatter
overdrive teen talk box
animated words and laughs ring
with joy

THAT CRAZY PHONE !

a call
at 2 AM
asking about poodles
it's an April Fool's joke much too
early

and a couple more from ZHANNA....

HIS BLACK-PEARLY SMILE

Snowman's
sparkling coal eyes
and mouth..My little girl
suggests that he should also brush
his teeth

POET'S BLOCK

Cinquain
about the rain,
I struggled to create;
I strained my brain, but all in vain —
too late.

A FEW EXAMPLES FROM BRIAN........

T M S (Test Match Special -Cricket)

Again
The rain stopped play;
Depression in the box----
Everything already said
Before !

FRUSTRATION

Golf is
A 'umbling game,
It's all in the mind,just
One swing away from a problem--
Hiding !

TOUR DE FRANCE

Rivals
Eye each other,
Manoeuvre to and fro,
With tactics to lance the yellow
Jersey.

WRITER'S BLOCK

Cinquain,
So lightly trips,
Scan,meter,riming riche,
Every stanza versed even stich
Pen quick!
